The Museum of
Uncommon Phenomena

Sights & Sounds to Astound, Confound & Generally Discombobulate

Behold the sensational spectacle that is "The Museum of Uncommon Phenomena!” (formerly Cabinet of Curiosity)

- a reality-teasing experience tailored to excite the senses of curiosity & wonder. Based in Ontario, Canada.
HARKENING BACK TO LATE 19TH-CENTURY CARNIVAL SIDESHOWS, WHERE THE LINES BETWEEN SCIENCE, MAGIC & COLLECTIONS OF "CURIOSITIES" WERE BLURRED, THE DUO BEHIND MENTAL FLOSS SIDESHOW BRING A POTENT MIX OF HISTORY & MYSTERY TO LIFE WITH IMMERSIVE ARTIFACT-DRIVEN STORYTELLING.

What to Expect?

Wondernauts of all ages are invited to step right up & meet whimsical curiosity hunters Professor Archibald Floss & Dr. Charlotte Tann as they explore a carefully curated collection of artifacts garnered from their travels to the '5 corners of the globe!’
Picture
On the outside, showman Professor Floss encourages one & all to banish their disbelief as they step out of the everyday & step in to a highly detailed environment where the distinctions between fact & fiction begin to dissolve.

On the inside, Dr. Charlotte Tann, a storytelling snake oil peddler, reveals an eccentric array of Natural Wonders, Scientific Marvels, Cautionary Tales & Mythic Mysteries.
Your hosts positively welcome inquisitive engagement from all visiting Wondernauts as they peruse the exhibition!  Typical questions include speculation, suspicion & new found information amidst gasps of giggles & awe as we celebrate the rich & boundless reaches of human imagination.
MENTAL FLOSS SIDESHOW ADDED MUCH MAGIC & WHIMSEY TO OUR SITE. OUR GUESTS WERE THOROUGHLY ENTERTAINED & THEIR SHOW GAVE AN INSIGHTFUL NOD TO THE ORIGINS OF MUSEUMS LIKE OURS! IT WAS AN ABSOLUTE PLEASURE WORKING WITH KARL & LESLEY. I CAN'T RECOMMEND THEM ENOUGH!
Jennifer Lyons, Head Curator - Museums, Prince Edward County

Technical Requirements?

The Museum of Uncommon Phenomena is housed in a hand painted, richly decorated tent with an additional exterior banner line.  The installation nestles comfortably on level grass, pavement or suitable indoor location.  The full display is 20ft wide x 15ft deep with an apex of 11ft. Access to hydro for lighting & sound is typically required.  The experience can also be tailored to other indoor environments when the tent height is prohibitive.
